Armeno fans! You have Qs about when to order the perfect gift for your friends and fam this holiday season, and we've got As. Here's the rundown:
Most years, we give you an ETA on when we would like you to place your order by in order to receive it by the holidays (for 2023, that cut-off date is Mon Dec 4th for Hanukkah shoppers and Mon, Dec 11th for Christmas shoppers). If you order after that cut-off date we will still do our best to fill your order and ship it to you ASAP! Just bear in mind that the holiday season means delayed shipping times so you may run the risk that your order will not arrive until after the holidays.
As of Nov 1, 2023, our hours are Mon-Sat 9AM-5PM and closed Sundays. We'll also be closed on the following dates: Thanksgiving Thursday (Nov 23), Black Friday (Nov 24), and Dec 25 - Jan 1. You can find our Holiday closure dates, and a list of other retail locations where you can find our coffee here.
]]>New to Armeno coffee? No worries! We know there's a lot of lingo involved when it comes to the way we describe our beans, so here's a brief overview of what to expect from each of our four roast levels: Full City, Viennese, French, and Italian.
As a quick overview: what do we mean when we talk about 'roast level?' Essentially, when we talk about a coffee's body strength, that is a quality inherent to the bean based on where it's grown (similar to how we talk about wine). The roast level, however, is what we do to the beans, and determines how 'light' or 'dark' the beans are.
The best analogy we can give is: think of toast in a toaster oven. The longer you leave the bread in, the more you'll be tasting that 'toasted' flavor, rather than the natural flavors of the bread itself. Of course, the last thing we want is a 'burnt' taste, so don't worry! Even at those higher roast levels, Head Roaster John Park chooses beans with flavors that he knows can benefit from a darker roast, leaving you with a deeper, richer flavor that packs a delicious punch.
In terms of how it actually works, a lot of it comes down to temperature and time. Most roasts only take about 11-17 minutes, with darker roasts needing a temp and time that's just a smidge higher and longer than light roasts.
Alright, onto the specifics!
A Full City Roast brings our beans to that classic, walnut brown. The majority of our beans are done to this standard roast, and though this is the lightest of the four roast levels, it doesn't mean weakest! Much like wine or chocolate, every coffee bean has a unique flavor profile, and often a full city roast is the best level for showing off those lovely, natural qualities.
A Viennese Roast (or medium roast level) is the next step up, adding a bit of backbone to your morning brew. Batches of our Sumatran, Nicaraguan, and Kenyan beans are brought to this level, as well as our popular Wachusett Blend, which is a mix of Viennese roasted beans from each of our main regions. This level is perfect for those that don't want something as heavy as a dark roast, but do want a little extra oomf.
A French Roast is our standard dark roast level. This roast quite literally shines due to the natural oil produced at this level, and flavor-wise, it offers a rich syrupiness that many of our customers love! Our Sumatra Mandheling French is our most popular French roast, but we carry Brazilian Bourbon Santos French and Costa Rica Tres Rios French as well. Our Dark Roast Blend, which we use for our cold brew, is also a mix of French roasted beans from our various regions. Perfect for espresso drinkers, those that want a heavier brew that stands up well to milk and sugar, and those that love a 'strong' cup!
An Italian Roast is the darkest we go. Only our Sumatra Mandheling beans are brought to this roast, since most other beans aren't robust enough to maintain their flavor at this level. Those who love our blends, however, know that you can find these 'super dark' beans in our rich and chewy Cowboy Blend as well! Best suited for the boldest of coffee drinkers.
Hope this helps you all when deciding what roast level is right for you!

]]>Grown in Indonesia on the island of Sulawesi (formerly known as “Celebes”) just east of Borneo, this bean is prized as being one of the rarest and most exotic in the world. Harvested from volcanic soil on the southern tip of the island, Celebes Kalossi carries a slightly more dynamic flavor compared to our other Indonesian beans. With a syrup-like finish and a chocolate aftertaste, these medium roasted beans are not to be missed.
As always with Indonesian beans, your cup of coffee will have a smooth and full-bodied mouthfeel with soft, mellow acidity. Customers who are a fan of our Sumatran beans and are looking for something in the same vein will enjoy our Celebes Kalossi! A treat for the real coffee connoisseur.
Order it here or drop by the mill just in time for spring to try it for yourself!

Want the perfect, velvety cup for Valentine's Day? Try out this newest addition to our coffee roster!
This particular bean comes to you from the rainforests of Bolivia, specifically the Caranavi Province in the Yungas region, where much of the county's coffee is produced. Done to our full city light roast, this light bodied brew offers a luxurious, silky smooth texture that would be right up the alley of our island coffee fans. With notes of caramel and a delightful, milk chocolate finish, this brew is just the thing to add to your list when picking out all those Valentine's Day goodies!
Order it here or drop by the mill this February to try it for yourself!
]]>This luxurious island coffee is the perfect brew to start this new decade right!
The Dominican Republic Red Honey Process is grown on the Ramirez Estate in the Jarabacoa region of the Dominican Republic. Family owned and highly socially conscious, the Ramirez Estate actually "uses fermented coffee cherries to create natural gas, which powers their operation," according to our friends over at Cafe Kreyol, and are highly committed to their workers and community, often donating books and computers to their local schools, and paying their employees "roughly 300 percent higher wages" than the minimum Fair Trade standard.
In terms of flavor, this single estate bean offers a delightfully silky and mildly sweet cup. This is thanks in part to the beans undergoing a honey process, which involves leaving part of the coffee cherry on the coffee seed as it dries. The length of time that the coffee is dried this way, as well as the amount of exposure to sunlight, will result in the dried coffee cherries having a different outward appearance (white, yellow, red, black, etc), and this end color is what the honey process is then named for (in this case red).
Expect a smooth finish from the bean's low acidity, as well as notes of strawberry and vanilla.
]]>'Tis the season! December is here and so is our annual Holiday Cheer Blend.
This special, seasonal blend is only available from Nov 1st through January 31st every year, and the coffees within it change annually. Though our Head Roaster, John Parks, always likes to create a profile that is rich with complexity, the high end coffees he chooses to be in the blend are always different, making each year's batch unique!
This year, the Holiday Cheer features two beans from Indonesia, one from the Middle East, and one from Central America. Expect notes of chocolate and warm spice. The perfect cup for a snowy winter day!
]]>This November, we're featuring our newest Ethiopian bean: Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Honey Process Koke Washing Station! Now that may be one of the longest names we've ever had on one our bags, so let's break it down.
This coffee is grown in the Gedo Zone of Yirgacheffe in Ethiopia, hence the first part of the name. Even more specifically, however, the coffee is processed at the Koke Washing Station. What this means is, after a coffee tree's cherries have been harvested, the coffee then needs to be processed in some way to remove the seed (a.k.a. bean) from the fruit. There are a variety of ways to do so, ranging from 'dried' to 'washed' methods. In this case, the coffee has been processed using a 'honey process' method, and is brought to the Koke Washing Station for this step.
So, the first and last parts of the name are referring to the locations where the coffee is from, but what's a honey process? Basically, instead of being immediately taken out of the fruit, the beans stay encased in the coffee cherry during a portion of the drying process. In this case, these beans are dried inside the cherry on raised beds for twenty days then covered with dried parchment for an additional month. Flavor-wise, this results in a much sweeter cup.
Similar to our other Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, this brew is medium in body with crisp acidity that lends it a lovely fruit notes like watermelon, tangerine & grape. Thanks to the honey process, however, you can expect considerable natural sweetness in every cup! Perfect for those that love their coffee black.
]]>Happy spooky month everyone! In the spirit of Halloween, we've decided to feature this rich, dark & edgy brew again for the month of October.
Haven't heard of Witches Brew before? We only just re-introduced it last year as another fun, dark, french roasted option, and you all enjoyed it so much that it actually became a new staple of our blends shelf: Wicked Joe Blend!
Much like our Dark Roast Blend, Witches Brew also has one coffee from each of the main regions we source from (Central America, Africa & Indonesia), but with an additional Indonesian bean to add a little extra oomph. Expect rich complexity and notes of chocolate.
Sorry online friends, it is still an in-store item only for now, but we highly recommend dropping by this month and giving it a try!
]]>This month we're featuring a staple on our coffee roster and a favorite among the Armeno crew: Tanzania Peaberry!
Though the exact estate can vary depending on availability, the green coffee we roast is most often sourced from the Mount Kilimanjaro area of northern Tanzania.
A common question people ask us about this coffee is what the word 'peaberry' means. Essentially, coffee beans are actually seeds, and as a coffee tree gets older, a genetic mutation can occur that causes a coffee cherry to only produce one, infertile coffee seed instead of two pressed flat against one another. This smaller, rounded, infertile bean is called a peaberry, and typically only makes up about 5% of any given coffee crop. In terms of flavor, this type of coffee bean tends to have a bit more body strength to it than its flat bean counterpart, as well as an added hint of sweetness.
Like many African coffees, Tanzania Peaberry has a medium body and pleasant acidity. Done to a light, full city roast, expect to taste notes of blackberry and a slightly sweet finish.
]]>This month's featured brew is coming to you from Costa Rica!
Grown on an Organic micro lot, this coffee derives its name from the reddish purple shade of the ripe coffee cherries, paired with the fact that it is grown in a high elevation rainforest (or cloud forest) that is continually in a 'haze.' Maintained by the same family for generations, this farm prides itself for being in harmony with the environment around it and are highly committed to organic farming, conservation, and their local community.
Done to a full city (light) roast, this brew is medium in body with pleasant acidity. Expect notes of dark chocolate, hazelnut, and plum.
]]>
For the month of July, we're featuring our newest Sumatran bean, the Mutu Batak! Sourced from the Lintong region of Sumatra, the Mutu Batak shares some similarities with our Bali Rainforest Blue Moon, namely the surprisingly fresh acidity it contains, which is an unusual trait for a Sumatran bean.
Full in body and done to a full city roast, this brew offers notes of milk chocolate, grapefruit, and cedar. Expect richness with a lingering finish.
]]>Hi everyone! Welcome back to the Weekly Grind. We have a few new coffees that have been added to our shelves in the past month or so. Have you had a chance to try them out yet?
Finca La Pastora Costa Rica Black Honey: The black honey process gives this brew a heavier body than our other Costa coffees, and a pleasant sweetness in the finish. Expect notes of black cherry, raspberry, and chocolate.
Sumatra Mutu Batak: Fans of our Bali Rainforest Blue Moon coffee will love this new Sumatra! Though full bodied and light roasted like our other Sumatras, this bean has a surprisingly fresh acidity for a Sumatra, giving it a slightly fruity finish. Expect notes of chocolate, cedar, and grapefruit.
India Mysore Nugget Extra Bold: Many coffees sourced from India are monsoon-processed, including our India Monsoon Malabar. This bean, however, is processed with via the washed method instead. This brew is less earthy than our Monsoon Malabar, with a full body, light roast, and notes of dark chocolate and caramel.
Don't forget! Everything in the wine room is 15% off, all June! Make sure you take advantage before the end of the month!

La Minita Estate touts their signature bean as “one of the last true Estate coffees.” Carefully selected and curated through every step of the process, this bean is highly prized as one of the world’s most exquisite coffees.
Done to a full city (light) roast, this bean has a good balance of body and acidity, giving it a crisp, fruity finish. Expect subtle citrus notes and a lingering sweetness.
We’re thrilled to be able to offer such an extremely limited production, high quality brew!
]]>For the month of May, we’ve decided to feature this deliciously silky brew from Maui Grown, our Maui coffee supplier! Grown on the West Maui Mountains, this brew is medium bodied and slightly sweet. Expect a pleasant, medium acidity and hints of spice.
We love the Maui coffees for their exquisite flavors and luxurious mouthfeel—perfect for treating yourself, (or mom this Mother’s Day)!

]]>With so many coffees to choose from here at the mill, it can be easy to overlook the old favs! Therefore, in honor of Armeno's 25th birthday being right around the corner, we're going back to our roots this month and highlighting one of our most tried and true coffees: our House Blend! This staple is designed to be our most universal coffee choice, and is perfect for those trying our coffee for the first time. For that reason, it's a popular choice for our cafes and wholesalers to order, who value its consistent quality and wide appeal.
The House Blend combines one bean from each of our main regions (Indonesia, Africa, & Central America), resulting in a well balanced, medium bodied coffee with medium acidity and a smooth finish. Consistent, delicious, classic!
]]>Still need to pick up something sweet for your Valentine? Look no further! These beans are perfect for those who love a coffee on the sweeter side:
Mocha Java Blend: Although there's no chocolate flavoring in this blend, it does have a chocolatey finish thanks to the Java and Harrar within it, which are both sweet on their own! It's full bodied, light roasted, and complex.
Retro Sumatra Mandheling: This full bodied, light roasted Sumatran bean is like a richer version of our standard Sumatra, giving it a more obvious chocolatey finish.
Tanzania Peaberry: A favorite among many of the Armeno staff! This medium bodied, light roasted African bean with notes of blackberry is a peaberry bean, a.k.a. an infertile, smaller, rounded bean that occurs due to a mutation in the coffee cherry. Peaberry beans often have a bit more body strength and sweetness than their flat bean counterparts.
Ethiopian Harrar: This light roasted, medium bodied African bean does have some acidity, but rather than having citrus notes like our Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, the Harrar has something closer to a chocolatey finish.
Yemen Mocha Mattari: This middle-eastern bean has a bit of a higher price point than some of our other coffees ($21 per lb) but it's well worth it for the quality! Light roasted and fairly full bodied, this bean is acidic without being too sharp, and has notes of chocolate and cinnamon.
Brazil Legender Especial Peaberry: My personal favorite! Once again, the peaberry bean provides a sweet finish to this smooth, light roasted and medium bodied coffee. Expect notes of chocolate, cherry, and whipped peanut butter (don't worry though, there are no actual peanuts involved in any way)!
Dominican Republic Barahona Honey Process: Our standard Dominican Barahona bean already has notes of caramel and sugarcane. The honey processing done to these beans increases this natural sweetness, but is still balanced by a pleasant acidity. It is both light roasted and mild bodied.
100% Hawaiian Kona: If you really want to treat your sweetheart right, consider splurging on some Hawaiian Kona. It's one of our most expensive coffees ($40 per lb) but its quality is unreal. Light roasted and mild bodied, the Kona has a floral aroma and creamy texture that perfectly compliments its chocolate finish. Delicious!
(As always, all coffees subject to availability and go on a first come first serve basis unless you call ahead!)
We've got a bunch of delicious, Valentine's Day inspired creations from Anna Banana's Homemade Goodness! Swing by this week to check out her milk, dark, and white chocolate bars, mixed bags, wine hangers, and more!
If you need some wine for your Valentine's Day dinner, (or to accompany all the chocolate you bought them) we have a wide selection of choices for you! I highly recommend the Le Perussier Domaine Philippe Plantevin if you're looking for a rosé. The Yellow Muscat is also a nice choice that is surprisingly sweet for a dry white, and the Vinum Cellars White Elephant is a great "California white table wine." Or, consider the Moulin-À-Vent Domain Pral for a smooth, oaky, red with nice berry notes, or the always fun Lolea red sangria!
]]>This East African bean is sourced from northern Burundi, in the Ngozi province, and processed at the Rimero Washing station, which, according to Royal Coffee NY, "manages the processing for over 1,700 farmers and 500,000 coffee trees!"
You are probably used to us focusing on how the country of origin affects the flavor profile of the bean when we walk you through our coffee selection at Armeno, but the next step after harvesting (processing) is important too! Coffee is processed on a scale from dry (or unwashed) to wet (or washed), with 'dry' being the classic, traditional way that goes back to the earliest days of coffee production, and 'wet' being a relatively newer method that is often considered to produce some of the world's highest quality coffees. The washed method requires a skilled touch, and is great for those who love a clean, bright acidity in their coffee.
Done to our light, full city roast level, the Burundi offers a medium body and sharp, fruity finish. Expect notes of grapefruit, rhubarb, and peach. Perfect for fans of our Kenyan coffees!
]]>Hello everyone, and welcome back to the Weekly Grind!
This week, we're saying "Hi, Felicia," to our newest coffee/beer collab with Bay State Brewing! Used to the popular dark beer & coffee combo? Here's a chance to broaden your horizons by trying out this west coast style IPA infused with our cold brewed Dark Roast Blend. The result, in Bay States words, is a "full bodied, slightly sweet not overly bitter...fusion of bright hop flavors, a strong malt base and subtle coffee notes." Expect traditional crisp and fruity IPA flavors with a silky nitro texture and refreshing iced coffee finish.
Cans are available in-store now for $14.95 per 4-pack while supplies last! You can also check Bay State out on Facebook here.
Witches Brew & Humbug fans rejoice! You've asked and asked for us to keep bringing this blend back, and so we've listened. Starting now, Wicked Joe Blend is available in-store as a more permanent member of our shelves. For those who don't recall, this brew is like a richer version of our Dark Roast blend, with two Indonesians, one African, and a Central American coffee all done to a french roast level. Best described as edgy and robust with a lot of depth.

]]>It's that time of year again! Many of you eagerly anticipate the return of this particular seasonal blend, which we roast up from Nov 1 to January 31st every year.
